Attention Amazon Sellers! There’s a Countdown for Italy VAT Compliance – Late Compliance Risks Sales Restrictions

Today, we have an urgent reminder for fellow Amazon sellers – Italy’s VAT compliance matters directly impact your ability to sell normally, and there will be serious consequences for late compliance!

Attention Amazon Sellers! There’s a Countdown for Italy VAT Compliance – Late Compliance Risks Sales Restrictions

Two groups of sellers must pay close attention:

First, four key seller groups: those with local inventory in Italy, sellers with cross-border sales exceeding €10,000 without using the OSS (One-Stop Shop) system, participants in the Pan-European Program, and other sellers meeting compliance requirements.

For these four key seller groups: You must submit your tax ID to complete VAT registration within 60 days of receiving the notification, or directly shut down the corresponding Italy marketplace services.

Second, sellers of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) products, who have a separate compliance deadline.

Sellers of WEEE products: You must submit your registration number by December 31, 2025. Failure to do so on time will trigger the platform’s withholding and remittance mechanism.
Don’t take chances – sellers who fail to comply on time will face risks including restricted sales privileges on their Amazon accounts and removed inventory. This is equivalent to directly cutting off your business in the Italian market, resulting in significant losses.

Why the sudden strict enforcement?

EU regulations require platforms to fulfill compliance supervision obligations.
>Italy’s tax authority has also strengthened inspections through the ViDA (Value Added Tax in the Digital Age) reform, and even uses AI technology to intercept unregistered goods. Compliance is an inevitable trend – you can’t avoid it, only respond proactively.

What to do now?

The key comes down to two actions:
  1. Quickly organize your documents, submit your tax ID to complete VAT registration within the specified time,

or shut down the corresponding Italy marketplace services after evaluation to avoid non-compliance risks.

  1. For sellers of WEEE products, focus on keeping a close eye on the December 31 deadline – don’t miss the time to submit your registration number.
